Language Arts in 4th through 8th Grade

Online - Live Symposiums
With Anna Rainville; author, teacher, mentor

True ease in writing comes from art, not chance,
as those move easiest who have learned to dance. - Alexander Pope.

Expressing oneself clearly through writing is a life skill and one that requires careful instruction and practice. This zoom workshop is designed for those interested in practical methods for teaching students how to write well.

Session 1: The Elegance of the Complete Sentence
In this one-hour session, participants will learn how to introduce their writers to the five ways to begin a sentence using a subject, prepositional phrase, adverb, verb participles, and subordinate conjunctions. Included are a review and practice of grammar and editing skills.

Session 2: Reading for Information, Note Taking, and Composing a Paragraph
In this one-hour session, participants will learn how to introduce their students to find and record the essential information in non-fiction texts necessary for report research and writing.  Using these notes, we will explore ways to compose succinct, dynamic paragraphs.

Cost: $30/per one hour session or $50/for both.
